President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the rescue of 308 Nigerians abducted in separate attacks in Niger and Kwara states, describing the operation as a major success in the country’s fight against insecurity.

The victims, comprising 163 abducted from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and 145 from Niger State, were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in New Bussa, Niger State, during a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the Presidency, the operation was the largest same-day rescue carried out by the joint security team.

President Tinubu commended the security agencies for their bravery, professionalism and inter-agency collaboration, noting that the operation reflects the growing effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture.

The rescued victims are receiving medical care before being reunited with their families through their respective state governments.

The President also directed security agencies to strengthen early warning systems, improve intelligence gathering and enhance rapid response capabilities to prevent future abductions, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and protecting lives across the country.
