The body of Mr Hosea Ibi, the member representing Takum I Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, who was kidnapped two weeks ago by unknown gunmen, has been found.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal, while confirming the death of the lawmaker said the corpse was found on Tuesday afternoon at Kwari village along the Takum-Kashinbilla Road.
In his reaction, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly who currently represents Takun II in the Assembly expressed shock over the development as according to him, Ibi’s colleagues in the House were looking forward to his return only to be thrown into mourning by the news of his demise.
Hon. Ibi was kidnapped on December 30, 2017 at about 10pm in his hometown of Takum and is believed to have been killed by his abductors after an undisclosed amount of money had been paid to secure his release.
The remains of the deceased lawmaker, who was elected into the House in 2015, has since been deposited at the Takum General Hospital Mortuary.
