The semi-final parings for the 2017/2018 edition of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League have been revealed after the draws were conducted at the UEFA Headquarters in Sion, Switzerland on Friday.

England’s Liverpool Football Club has been drawn against Italy’s AS Roma in the first semi-final of the UCL. The Reds came through an all-English Premier League quarter-final against Manchester City, winning the first leg 3 – 0 at Anfield and completing the routing with a 2 – 1 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday right.

Serie A side, AS Roma produced a remarkable comeback to knock out Spanish giants, Barcelona. The Italian team lost the first leg 4-1 at the Camp Nou in Spain, but progressed on away goals following a 3-0 home victory in the return leg.

In the other semi-final match up, European heavyweights, Germany’s Bayern Munich will square up against cup holders, Real Madrid of Spain, who needed a dramatic last-gap penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo to see off Juventus after the Italian team had come back from a 3-0 deficit in the first leg to level the tie.

It is always pretty close when it comes to past meetings between both powerhouses. The Spanish side has won six of their 11 knock out ties, including the last two while the Germans have five wins.

The first legs of the semi-final matches will be played on April 24/25 with the return legs slated to be played on May 1/2.

In the Europa League semi-final draws, England’s Arsenal Football Club will face Atletico Madrid of Spain while Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg will lock horns with Marseille of France.

The Gunners will play the first leg at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, 26 April with the second leg to be played a week later in Spain.
