Apostle Johnson Suleiman

After nearly three hours of interrogation, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleiman was allowed to go home by the Department of State Security, DSS on Monday night.

Suleiman honoured the invitation of the DSS to their headquarters in Abuja following a botched attempt to arrest him in Ado-Ekiti last week. The unsuccessful move to arrest him and the subsequent invitation to Abuja were over an allegation that he told members of his church to kill any Fulani herdsman that came close to them.

Suleiman has however maintained that he only told his people to defend themselves against attacks by the herdsmen. He has clarified and stood his ground that he told his congregation not to merely sit back and watch marauding herdsmen slaughter them.

Apostle Suleiman, according to a source, was expected to report at the DSS office much earlier in the day but the appointment was rescheduled to 7:00pm. He was accompanied by many officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria including the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Felix Omobude, some members of his church and family as well as friends.

Reacting to the release, Phrank Shaibu who is his Communications Adviser said the DSS exhibited a high level of maturity and professionalism in handling his principal.
