A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has lamented his abandonment by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after he helped bring the Muhammadu Buhari-led government into power.

Atiku, who made the revelation on Wednesday during an interview in the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) said he no longer has any relationship with the current government as he is no longer being consulted on any issue although he was still a member of the APC.

He said: “Honestly speaking, I’m still a member of the APC. I was part of all the processes, including campaigns until success was achieved. But sadly, soon after the formation of government, I was sidelined.

“I have no relationship with the government, I’ve not been contacted even once to comment on anything and in turn, I maintained my distance. They used our money and influence to get to where they are but three years down the lane, this is where we are.”

He further said the successes made against Boko Haram and insurgency were still not comprehensive as the miscreants were still very active, killing people and holding many local governments in the north-east in their firm grips.
