The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says the reinstatement of the indicted former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina into the Federal Civil Service was an embarrassment to the Federal Government.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary stated this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Abuja. He said the development was totally unacceptable.

Maina was said to have been dismissed from the Federal Civil Service for abandoning his duty post and evading arrest following his indictment in the mismanagement of pension funds to the tune of N100 billion.

Abdullahi said: “We are all shocked like any other person. It is almost unbelievable that such a thing can happen, we are all delighted that President Muhammadu Buhari has taken very decisive punitive actions against those that are involved.

“We are also delighted that he has ordered a full scale investigation into the circumstances that led to this individual to be reinstated into the public service,” he added.

Abdullahi further said the APC and the Federal Government believed that the perpetrators of the act or those found to be part of the development would definitely face appropriate consequences.

While debunking claims that President Buhari was shielding the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Ayo Oke over allegations of corruption, Abdullahi expressed confidence that the President would do what was necessary and right concerning the situation in the interest of the nation.
