Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has said that the English club was far from signing Gabonese international and Borussia Dortmund of Germany striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Although negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs, Wenger believes the English league title contenders could still land the 28-year-old before the January transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Dortmund officials are asking for €70 million before they can allow Arsenal speak with the player who has grown increasingly unhappy at the Signal Iduna Park this season.
Arsenal’s negotiating team led by Chief Executive, Ivan Gazidis and Chief Scout, Sven Mislintat are hoping to agree on a deal closer to the €50 million mark for the unsettled Aubameyang, a fee which the German side is currently unimpressed with.
