Popular comedian, Bill Cosby’s daughter, Ensa has reportedly died of kidney disease in Massachusetts, the United States.

Spokesman for the comedian, Andrew Wyatt while announcing the sad news on Monday called for prayers for the repose of the soul of the 44-year-old Ensa who appeared in one episode of the popular ‘Cosby Show’, her father’s hit series that ran from 1984 to 1992.

In a post on the comedian’s Facebook page, the Cosby family said: “The Cosby family thanks many people for their prayers for their beloved and beautiful Ansa, who recently died from renal disease.”

Bill Cosby lost another of his five children in 1997 when his son Ennis, a graduate student at Columbia University was fatally shot during a botched robbery as he was changing the tyre of his car in the Sepulveda pass.

Although normally quiet and uncomfortable in the public limelight, Ensa was an outspoken defender of his father, who was accused of sexual assault by more than 50 women and is currently facing retrial on charges that he drugged and molested a Temple University staff in 2004.

Cosby is due in court next week Monday for a pretrial hearing as his lawyers and prosecutors clash over how many other accusers could testify at the retrial.
