UEFA Champions League (UCL) defending champions, Spain’s Real Madrid will face Italy’s Serie A powerhouse, Juventus in one of the quarter final fixtures of the competition.

The Bianconeri as the Italian side is popularly called have won four of their last eight Champions League matches against Real Madrid, losing two, one of them being last year’s 4-1 defeat in the finals of the competition.

In the other fixtures from the draws which were conducted on Friday, one of the tournament’s favourites, Barcelona of Spain will face AS Roma of Italy. Roma may take consolation from the fact that Barcelona has lost two of their previous three quarter final ties against Italian opposition, losing to Juventus twice in 2003 and 2017.

The Giallorossi have encountered Barcelona four times in the Champions League and had boasted of an unbeaten record against the Catalan giants until their last meeting in which they conceded six goals.

Sevilla, the last Spanish team still in the race, have an uphill task ahead of them as they have been paired against Bayern Munich of Germany. The Germans have been in blistering form of recent but Sevilla’s confidence has definitely been boosted recently, especially after they eliminated Manchester United in their round of 16 encounter to the surprise of many soccer pundits.

The final match-up of the round will see Liverpool slugging it out with fellow English Premier League club side, Manchester City, the first all-English Champions League quarter finals since 2011 when Chelsea met Manchester United.

If history is anything to go by, then the odds favour Manchester City as their coach, Pep Guardiola has never lost a Champions League quarter final match, progressing in all seven he had been in.

But the Reds German coach, Jurgen Klopp on the other hand has beaten Pep Guardiola on five different occasions in all competitions, more than any other manager in football history.

The fixtures show that Juventus will square up against Real Madrid on April 3, same day and time as the Sevilla versus Bayern Munich match. Liverpool will face Manchester City the next day, same day Barcelona will trade tackles with AS Roma at the Camp Nou.
