The Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy which Austrian-born actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger rode in the block buster animation movie ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ has been sold at an auction for $500,000 (₦181million).

The sale of the screen-used Harley bike was handled by ‘Profiles In History’ as part of its ‘Icons & Legends of Hollywood’ auction, which ran from June 5 to 8. An email from Profiles in History showed that the bike sold for $480,000, beating the estimated sale price of $200,000 – $300,000.

The auction house was hoping to sell it between $200,000 and $300,000 for the fully functional bike as the 1991 motorcycle has missing side mirrors and 392 miles on its odometer.

One of the most memorable scenes in ‘Terminator 2’ involved a freshly-arrived nude T-800(Arnold Schwarzenegger) beating down bar patrons on its way to hijacking the prized motorcycle.

After stealing the Harley-Davidson from the owner in the movie, T-800 used the bike to rescue John Connor from the menacing shape-shifting android assassin called T-1000.

Terminator 2, which was released in 1991 ushered in a new generation of computer-generated imagery, blending live action with virtual graphics. The terrifying liquid-metal T-1000, played by Robert Patrick is still impressive by today’s standards.

The bullet-riddled jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film was also sold at the same auction for $24,000.

The 49hp 1991 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy has an air-cooled, 4-stroke V-Twin engine and a top speed of 295.0 kilometres per hour.
