Nigeria’s Presient, Muhammadu Buhari is expected to leave the country on Friday to London, to spend a 10-day vacation.
According to a statement released by the Presidency on Wednesday, a letter to that effect has been transmitted to leaders of both houses of the legislature as required by the law.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to assume the role of acting president in the absence of Buhari whose 2017 London vacation became a major talking point when he spent over three months seeking medical attention for an undisclosed ailment.
The last time Buhari was in London was when he made a brief stopover as he was returning from an official visit to the United States where he held talks with President Donald Trump.
Buhari, who is currently facing a wave of defections from his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is due to contest for a second term in office in the country’s presidential polls slated for February next year.
