Hundreds of women in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Wednesday took to the streets to protest the alleged slapping of the daughter of Senator Rochas Okorocha, Uloma Nwosu by a member of the Committee on the Recovery of Government Property set up by the state government.
The women, who assembled at the Rochas Foundation office along Okigwe Road at about 10:59 am matched to the Imo State Police Headquarters to submit their petition against the government over the issue.
Okorocha’s daughter is also the wife of Emeka Nwosu, the candidate of the Action Alliance in the last governorship election in the state.
Meanwhile, a coalition of Igbo women under the aegis of Assembly of Igbo Women in Nigeria and Diaspora (AIWND) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Governor Emeka Ihedioha to investigate the reported assault on Okorocha’s daughter.
