Governor Ortom

The Supreme Court on Tuesday affirmed the election victories of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.

Barrister Emmanuel Jime, candidate  of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Benue State had dragged Ortom before the apex court, having lost at the tribunal and Court of Appeal.

The Supreme Court in a unanimous judgement led by Justice Sylvester Agwuata ruled that “The judgement of the tribunal and Court of Appeal need not to be disturbed.” It therefore upheld the election of Governor Ortom of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

In similar fashion, the Supreme Court in an unanimous decision also upheld the election of Ahmadu Fintiri as the Governor of Adamawa State.
The judgement was delivered by Justice Dattijo Mohammed as the appeal challenging Fintiri’s election was dismissed.
