Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem has been confirmed as the President of the Court of Appeal.
She was confirmed after a report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters was presented by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.
“The nominee is a fit and proper person for appointment as the President of the Court of Appeal. The Committee recommends that the Senate do confirm the nomination of Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as Honourable President of the Court of Appeal,” he said.
A letter by President Muhammadu Buhari asking the senate to confirm her as the substantive appeal court president was read by the Senate President on Tuesday.
Dongban-Mensem has been acting as head of the appellate court since the retirement of the Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa in March.
