The traditional ruler of Biu in Borno State, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu, is dead. He was aged 79.

He died Monday night at the Federal Medical Center, Gombe after a brief illness.

A family source, who confirmed this, said the emir is survived by four wives, over 70 children and close to 200 grandchildren.
