Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa has hinted that the Commission is currently investigating the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bawa disclosed that the investigation would take some time because the EFCC needs to find out where Lagos revenue is being used.
Speaking with ThisDay newspaper on Monday, Bawa disclosed that they have a request for Tinubu’s assets declaration form from the state high court.
According to Bawa: “You asked me this question earlier about arresting people before the investigation and now you are saying why didn’t we arrest Tinubu and find out how he spent Lagos revenue? Why didn’t you just say ‘arrest him immediately’?
“Investigation is currently going on. When you are investigating serious matters like this, they don’t end in a single day. Thousands of investigations are going on every day.
“You understand? You know you are from the media. After you will say we are doing a media trial on people who are not prominent.”
Recently, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami dismissed insinuations that there were plans to probe Tinubu
Malami had said his office had no plans to investigate the former Lagos State governor.
