The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Fayemi, is currently undergoing questioning by Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to some sources. Mr Fayemi arrived at the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Commission at approximately 10 am today.
Allegations of misappropriation of funds during his tenure, amounting to about N4 billion, have prompted a team of investigators to interrogate the former governor. It has been reported that the agency’s invitation had been postponed for several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
The release of Mr Fayemi today remains uncertain, and it is unclear whether he will be detained or allowed to leave after the interrogation.
The EFCC has not yet issued a formal statement regarding this development at the time of filing this report. However, further details of the interrogation are expected to be released in the coming hours.
