President Bola Tinubu received a grand reception on Tuesday as he arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after his successful engagements abroad. The charismatic leader, known for his contributions to Nigerian politics, arrived precisely at 05:13pm amidst cheers and applause from his enthusiastic supporters.

Eager to greet the esteemed president were prominent figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Acting Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, as well as senators and representatives from Lagos State. The ex-Lagos State governor, who served between May 1999 and 2007, was also welcomed by vibrant members of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy as his convoy made its way from Ikeja to his private residence in Bourdillon, Ikoyi.

President Tinubu’s arrival marked the culmination of his first official trip overseas since assuming office on May 29, 2023. The president, who has wasted no time in representing Nigeria on the global stage, attended the New Global Financial Pact summit at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, France, alongside renowned world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron.

Following the two-day summit, President Tinubu made a brief visit to London, United Kingdom, for personal matters. His spokesperson, Dele Alake, confirmed that this was a private visit, emphasizing that the president would return to Nigeria in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivities on June 28 and 29, 2023.

Expressing his gratitude, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Nigerians for the overwhelming reception he received upon his arrival in Lagos. He extended his warmest wishes to all Nigerians as they prepare to celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

Tomorrow, President Tinubu will join fellow Muslim faithful for the Eid prayers at the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground, situated within the historic Dodan Barracks, once the seat of Nigerian government.
