The Nigerian military is conducting a mass burial for personnel killed in a recent bandit ambush and air crash in Niger State.
The solemn ceremony comes after gunmen attacked troops in the state on August 14, leaving 14 soldiers dead and 7 injured. An Air Force evacuation aircraft deployed to the area then crashed, killing all 2 pilots, 2 crew and 12 passengers on board.
Among those being laid to rest are 18 soldiers, 4 airmen and 2 naval personnel. They gave their lives in the line of duty supporting operations against criminal militants plaguing parts of northern Nigeria.
