Hundreds of patients are stuck in hospitals across northern Gaza as Israeli airstrikes continue nearby, according to the head of UNRWA. Tom White said it’s impossible to evacuate facilities like Al-Quds Hospital.
Many civilians are taking shelter in schools and hospitals. White said they lack transportation and means to flee south. Patients and others are going hungry and living on bread amid the bombings.
Israel’s military said ground operations expanded overnight. Dozens of militants barricaded in buildings were killed after attacking troops, they claim. Airstrikes hit a building housing 20 Hamas members and a missile launch site near a university.
A video from the Palestine Red Crescent Society shows people gathered outside Al Quds Hospital as loud explosions are heard. The area around the hospital was struck Sunday, despite its protected status. Civilians have limited options for escaping the violence.
