The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced a new agreement with Dangote Refinery for the direct supply of petroleum products, aiming to ensure a stable and affordable fuel supply across Nigeria. IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, confirmed the partnership on Monday following a meeting of the Association’s National Working Committee in Abuja.
Garima stated that after discussions with Dangote Refinery’s management team, led by Aliko Dangote, an agreement was reached to supply IPMAN with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK). These products will be distributed directly to IPMAN’s depots and retail outlets, eliminating intermediaries, reducing costs, and enhancing availability nationwide.
“This collaboration is an important step to support backward integration within Nigeria’s petroleum sector,” Garima explained. He noted that IPMAN is also in discussions with Dangote to secure competitive pricing that will benefit consumers. Garima further urged IPMAN members to support Dangote Refinery, emphasizing its potential positive impacts on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
Regarding the transition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Garima highlighted that IPMAN is aligning with the presidential CNG initiative to prepare for CNG refill stations across the country. He assured that IPMAN’s move towards CNG would bring new efficiencies and support sustainable energy goals.
In a statement, Dangote Refinery committed to supplying IPMAN’s 30,000 members and 150,000 retail outlets nationwide, reinforcing a dependable and cost-effective distribution network to benefit Nigeria’s economy.
