Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have searched the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct.
The development was confirmed by his media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, who said ICPC officials visited the Aso Drive residence on Thursday.
The search followed heightened scrutiny of El-Rufai’s tenure. The former governor has been in ICPC custody since Wednesday after his release on administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
One of his lawyers, Ubong Akpan, described the operation as unlawful, while ICPC spokesperson John Odey confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
