Security operatives have arrested four suspected bandits around the vicinity of Akure Airport in Ondo State following a coordinated security operation.
The arrests were confirmed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which said the suspects were apprehended after a distress alert about suspicious individuals behind the airport’s perimeter near the Eleyewo community.
A joint security team comprising Aviation Security personnel, the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force launched a search operation in response to the alert.
According to reports, the suspects were first sighted around farmland behind the airport fence, prompting concern among local farmers before security personnel moved in.
The four suspects were later apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation.
