The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack that left several people dead and others injured.

The curfew was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, as part of urgent measures to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked, and assured residents that security agencies have been deployed to stabilise the area and track down those responsible.

Authorities said movement within Jos North will be strictly restricted during the curfew period, with only essential services permitted to operate.

Residents have been urged to remain calm, comply with the directive, and support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing investigations.

The latest incident underscores ongoing security concerns in Plateau State, where recurring attacks have heightened tensions in recent months.
