President Bola Tinubu has formally signalled the start of his re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections after obtaining the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress.
The forms were picked up on his behalf at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives and close political ally of the President.
The development marks a major step in Tinubu’s bid to secure a second term in office, in line with constitutional provisions.
Tinubu, who assumed office in 2023, is expected to seek the party’s ticket in what is anticipated to be a competitive primary process, as political activities gradually gather momentum toward the 2027 elections.
