The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralised several terrorists in coordinated airstrikes carried out around Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and the Chikide axis of the Mandara Mountains in Borno State.
NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the operations were launched following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
According to Ejodame, the airstrikes targeted and destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, structures and assembly points concealed within the enclaves, while also disrupting planned attacks by insurgents operating in the North-East.
He said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the military to weaken terrorist capabilities and deny insurgents freedom of movement within the theatre of operations.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustained joint operations with other security agencies and allied partners aimed at eliminating terrorism and restoring peace across the country.
Ejodame added that intelligence-driven air operations would continue to identify and destroy terrorist hideouts, logistics networks and operational bases wherever they are located.
