President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC on winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title for a record ninth time.
Rangers secured the league crown after finishing the season with 68 points from 38 matches, ahead of closest rivals Rivers United.
In a statement, the President praised the players, coaching crew, management, and supporters of the Enugu-based club for their successful campaign.
Tinubu also recalled Rangers’ historic achievements in the 1970s and 1980s, including reaching the final of the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1975 and winning the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.
The President commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, saying the club’s success reflected the state government’s investment in youth and sports development.
He noted that Rangers, one of Nigeria’s oldest football clubs, had produced several players who made the country proud internationally.
Tinubu also praised Rivers United for their strong performance during the season and for displaying good sportsmanship.
The President wished both clubs success as they prepare to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.
