U.S. forces on Tuesday intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and attack drones and carried out self-defense strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island following what Washington described as attempted attacks by Tehran across the Middle East.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional countries, but none reached their targets. Three missiles fired toward Bahrain were intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini air defense systems, while two others aimed at Kuwait reportedly failed mid-flight.

CENTCOM also said its forces shot down three Iranian one-way attack drones heading toward civilian vessels in regional waters and subsequently struck an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

No U.S. personnel were injured during the incidents, the command said, adding that American forces remain on high alert amid a fragile ceasefire in the region.

In a separate development, CENTCOM confirmed that U.S. forces disabled a Botswana-flagged oil tanker bound for Iran as part of Washington’s naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The military said a Hellfire missile was fired into the vessel’s engine room after its crew ignored repeated warnings.

The latest escalation comes as diplomatic efforts continue over a potential U.S.-Iran agreement. President Donald Trump said Iran was eager to reach a deal, while reports indicated Washington had proposed amendments relating to the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and future nuclear negotiations.

However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the reports, accusing the United States of repeatedly changing its position and introducing new demands during the talks.
