
Twenty prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, abducted while travelling from Oyo State to orientation camps in Abia State, have been rescued.
The victims were released on Wednesday, exactly one week after they were abducted.
Force spokesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the corps members were rescued by police operatives and other security agencies at Amakohia Ubi Village, Imo State.
He said the victims had been taken for medical assessment and necessary care.
Iniedu added that security agencies were sustaining coordinated operations to apprehend the abductors, while thanking members of the public for their cooperation.
