A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has granted bail to the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye.
In his ruling on Wednesday morning, the Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajana said he had considered the health status of the third defendant (Melaye), hence the need to admit him to bail in the sum of ₦10 million with one surety in like sum.
Justice Ajana said the prosecuting team had failed to convince the honourable court why Melaye should not be granted bail in spite of the charges preferred against him.
The embattled senator was accused of gun-running and sponsoring suspected political thugs including Kabiru Saidu a.k.a. Osama to unleash mayhem in the state ahead of the 2019 general elections.
