The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, security chiefs and other top government officials to provide details of funds released to security agencies over the past six months.
Those invited include the Chief of Defence Staff, service chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi, Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed.
The resolution was adopted on Tuesday following deliberations on motions concerning the worsening security situation in parts of the country.
The House also urged President Bola Tinubu to direct the recruitment of forest guards in states facing security challenges, similar to the initiative implemented in Oyo State.
Lawmakers said the move was aimed at strengthening security oversight and addressing the growing wave of insecurity across the country.
