Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a ₦15 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), at a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Gbajabiamila is seeking ₦10 billion in general damages, ₦5 billion in aggravated damages, a public retraction and apology in five national newspapers, as well as ₦200 million in legal costs over allegations of corruption, abuse of office and bribery, which he described as false and malicious.
The suit follows Adeyemi’s failure to comply with a pre-action demand to withdraw the allegations and apologise publicly.
The Presidency has repeatedly stated that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency. Adeyemi is also facing separate criminal proceedings over alleged forgery and impersonation, allegations he has denied.
