Many people are feared dead after suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked the convoy of Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, who were on their way to a political rally at Gamboru-Ngala.
Eyewitnesses said many people were killed during the attack just as dozens were reportedly missing.
When contacted to throw more light on the incident, the Deputy Governor of the state, Usman Durkwa said he could not confirm the attack at the moment.
“I am hearing it as rumour. I’m yet to get report on the attacks of Governor’s convoy. They are yet to return from campaign rally in Mafa, Dikwa and Gamboru, a border town with Cameroon,” Durkwa said.
