The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi has said that most Nigerian politicians, particularly state governors trust spiritualists and ‘native doctors’ more than security officials for their protection.
Bichi, who stated this in Abuja while speaking at the retreat for incoming governors organized by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) said some of the security challenges in the country are as a result of many politicians’ distrust of security officials.
His words: “I joke with politicians that you people trust the marabouts and babalawos more. Once someone tells you nothing will happen to your seat and it happens, you just trust that person in all crises.”
He added that there was no lack of intelligence in the country but rather a lack of will from the concerned authorities to combat the numerous security challenges.
