
An explosion near an election rally which had Afghanistan’s President, Ashraf Ghani in attendance has killed 24 people and injured 31 others.
According to an aide, Ghani who was scheduled to address the rally held in Charikar, the capital of Parwan Province in northern Kabul was whisked away unhurt when the suspected militant attack occurred.
“Women and children are among them and most of the victims seem to be the civilians. Ambulances are still operating and the number of casualties may rise,” Abdul Qasim Sangin, head of the provincial hospital said.
