The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, in the United States is now more than 104,000 as at Saturday morning.
This is according to a Johns Hopkins University tally. The tally also projects the number of deaths in the US as surpassing 1,700.
This puts the Coronavirus death toll worldwide at 27,360.
Italy announced 919 new deaths from the coronavirus, the highest number of fatalities any country has reported within 24 hours since the outbreak began.
The total number of people who have died as a result of COVID-19 in Italy now stands at 9,134. The number of cases in the country is above 86,000.
Spain recorded 769 new deaths in a day, bringing the total number to 4,858. The death toll in Spain is over 5,000.
About 597,000 cases of the dreaded virus have been recorded worldwide.
