The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof Charles Soludo, is leading in the Anambra State governorship election, which started on Saturday, as he has won 18 out of 20 Local Government Areas from results declared on Sunday night by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC also has suspended the collation of results for the Anambra State governorship election. This was confirmed by INEC’s Chief Returning Officer for the election, Professor Florence Obi, on Monday at the commission’s head office in Awka.
Elections were not held in Ihiala Local Government Area and a supplementary election has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 9.
Other top contenders in the election are Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The results from the 20 LGAs showed that Soludo polled a total of 103,946 votes while his closest opponent, PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo, got 51,322 votes. APC’s Andy Uba secured the third-highest votes – 42,942, while YPP’s Ifeanyi Ubah got 20,917.
