Apparently, it was the entire world that waited anxiously for the results of the American presidential election after voting ended on Tuesday.Within the United States and elsewhere, most predictions had it that the Democratic candidate, Hilary Clinton would win. Generally acknowledged to be the most experienced American ever to make a run for the White House, she was expected to beat her opponent, Donald Trump who has never held political office and is regarded as an outsider to the country’s political establishment.
The direct opposite happened. Donald Trump, who, according to many national polls, had less than 10% chances of winning the Presidential election, won the world’s most powerful office.
In the course of the campaign, even the US Stock Market signified that a Clinton victory was what investors hoped for. Any hint that she might lose such as the announcement by the FBI to revisit her email scandal made stocks crumble.
Donald Trump who lost the elections in virtually all ‘reliable’ polling platforms shocked the world by defeating his Democratic rival by a huge margin and flipping states that would traditionally vote in favour of the Democrats. Most observers believe that the Trump victory is a major political revolution in America.
With this victory,it appears,Trump’s message to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN resonated properly among non-educated white voters whose demography is believed by some analysts to have been ignored or abandoned by Washington. In this election, blue-collar workers which made up a huge fraction of the 70% White voters, apparently hated the fact that globalization had resulted in the loss of jobs especially in manufacturing powerhouses like Michigan and Pennsylvania.
His takes on issues such as national security, crackdown on immigration, scrapping Obama’s Health Insurance Act (Obamacare), cutting corporate taxes, improving America’s military might, building a wall on the border with Mexico and changing many conventions in Washington seemed to be praised by his disciples who worshiped him on social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook.
The 70 year old billionaire will be the oldest person to ever command the Oval Office and his wife, Melania will be the first non-America-born first lady.
On the losing side, Hillary Clinton failed a second bid at becoming America’s first female president. Many thought she was uniquely qualified having served as Senator, First Lady and Secretary of State.
The 2016 US elections are obviously a great revival for the Republican Party which has regained majority in the two houses of Congress in addition to taking over the White-House .
