President Bola Tinubu has held his inaugural meeting with the country’s service chiefs since assuming office, urging security agencies to enhance coordination and avoid working at cross purposes.

During the meeting on Thursday, President Tinubu emphasized his commitment to adopting contemporary security measures aimed at bolstering the nation’s security. The President’s philosophy in tackling security issues revolves around embracing modern strategies to advance the country’s security fortunes.

Speaking to State House correspondents, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, conveyed the President’s message and revealed that frequent consultations, in line with the nation’s demands, will be a key aspect of the administration’s approach. Furthermore, the President has expressed his intention to embark on significant reforms.

In addition, President Tinubu directed the security agencies to develop a comprehensive plan to address the issue of crude oil theft, acknowledging the need for adaptations to meet the requirements of the evolving times.

Prominent attendees at the President’s maiden engagement with heads of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies included Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff; Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, the Chief of Air Staff; and Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police. Also present were Yusuf Bichi, the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
