The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed the reelection of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It dismissed a challenge to the result brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate.
The three-judge panel unanimously ruled Tuesday that the March 2022 election complied with the law and saw no grounds to nullify Mohammed’s victory.
According to official results, Mohammed secured 525,280 votes compared to 432,272 for APC’s Sadique Abubakar, a former Air Force chief. The APC had disputed the outcome but did not provide sufficient evidence of irregularities, the tribunal concluded.
