Organizers of the popular ‘Warri Again Concert’ have filed a N2.3 billion lawsuit against Afropop star Davido and his record label Davido Music Worldwide Limited at the Effurun High Court in Delta State.

The claimant, Brownhill Investments Company Limited, is seeking N2 billion in general damages from the singer for breach of performance contract. They are also asking for N150 million in legal fees and N30 million as cost of filing the case.

According to court documents, Davido was contracted to headline this year’s concert on October 6 after meeting Brownhill’s Chairman Amaju Pinnick at Abuja airport earlier this year. Despite being paid in full upfront, Davido failed to show up for the event.

The claimant alleges expending significant resources on promotion and logistics based on Davido’s agreement. This included chartering a private jet to fly the singer to Warri.

Attendees expressed disappointment over Davido’s unexplained absence at the show. Pinnick apologized and announced an alternative artist Shallipopi at extra cost to compensate.

Davido later claimed on Instagram he had informed Pinnick months ago he couldn’t make it. But the organizers insist no communication about his inability to perform was received.

The legal dispute has escalated further after Davido accused Pinnick of financial impropriety during his NFF presidency.
