The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are working to confirm whether one of three terrorists killed in a Gaza operation was Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. According to reports, troops were not specifically targeting Sinwar during the strike but found a body resembling him after the building partially collapsed.
A DNA sample has been taken for expedited testing in Israel. However, officials believe there is a high likelihood that the body belongs to Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023, Hamas invasion of Israel. The area remains heavily booby-trapped, complicating efforts to retrieve the body.
This strike comes amid ongoing IDF operations in Gaza as Israeli forces continue their campaign against Hamas. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed to eliminate all terrorists, posting on social media, “We will reach every terrorist and eliminate them.”
Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza since 2017, is widely considered the architect of the October 7 attack, which left 1,200 Israelis dead and hundreds of hostages taken. His involvement in the war has drawn global attention as Israel continues to retaliate against Hamas.
