President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesmen have had a busy day today denying reports that the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu has been sacked.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu was the first to react on Twitter. He said: “We are reading reports that the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu has been sacked. No report has been made available to the Presidency by the Attorney General of the Federation over the matter. The report of his sack is therefore speculative and pre-emptive.”
Femi Adesina, Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity also came on Twitter with the following denial: “No truth in the story making the rounds that Magu has been removed as EFCC boss. The AGF is yet to submit his probe report to the President.”
