The Senate has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central), signaling her likely return to legislative duties after a six-month suspension.
Her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate wing, was reopened by Deputy Director of the Sergeant-At-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, according to a video seen by our correspondent. Sources close to the senator also confirmed the development.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March for alleged misconduct, a decision that sparked widespread debate in Nigeria and the diaspora.
Following the expiration of her suspension, the senator had written to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, urging him to facilitate her resumption. However, the Clerk initially insisted she could not return due to pending appeals in her suit against the Senate.
With her office now unsealed, Akpoti-Uduaghan is expected to regain access to the National Assembly and resume her legislative duties.
