The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather advisory warning that parts of the country will experience slight dust haze, isolated thunderstorms, and intermittent rainfall between Monday and Wednesday.
In a statement on Sunday, NiMet urged motorists, aviators, individuals with respiratory conditions, and the general public to exercise caution as varying weather patterns could affect visibility, travel safety, and health.
According to the agency, a slight dust haze with generally good visibility is expected over northern states including Borno, Zamfara, northern Kaduna, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, and Katsina. In the North Central region, particularly the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kogi, thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening hours.
For southern states, NiMet predicted cloudy conditions in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall later in the day across Lagos, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and other parts of the South-South.
The agency also warned that localised heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding in vulnerable areas, urging residents in low-lying communities to remain vigilant.
“Motorists are advised to drive carefully, and individuals with asthma or other respiratory illnesses should limit outdoor exposure during hazy periods,” NiMet said.
The agency assured that it will continue to provide daily weather outlooks and hazard updates, encouraging Nigerians to monitor official NiMet channels for the latest forecasts and safety information.
