The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation has withdrawn the criminal case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission against senior lawyer Mike Ozekhome.

The Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), told the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in Maitama that the AGF would review the case before deciding on further action.

Following his application, which was not opposed by defence counsel Paul Erokoro, Justice Peter Kekemeke struck out the three-count charge, including forgery.

Oyedepo said the takeover, under Section 174 of the Constitution, was guided by public interest, due process, and the need to strengthen confidence in the justice system. He added that the defendant’s rights would be protected, while the AGF’s office reviews the case file for next steps.
