President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Damilola Ogunbiyi on becoming the first Nigerian to receive the prestigious TIME Earth Award.
Ogunbiyi, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for All and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, was recognised for her contributions to global efforts in tackling climate change and advancing clean energy.
The TIME Earth Awards honour individuals whose work has made a significant and lasting impact on the global energy transition and environmental sustainability.
President Tinubu praised Ogunbiyi’s leadership in promoting clean energy, noting that under her guidance, Sustainable Energy for All has supported over 100 countries and helped mobilise more than $1.6 trillion in energy financing.
He said the recognition highlights her dedication to sustainable development and reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in addressing global challenges.
The President also commended her role in elevating the country’s profile on the international stage and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.
