Governors from northern Nigeria have expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while calling for intensified efforts to address insecurity and implement reforms aimed at boosting revenue across the region.
The resolution was reached at a meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum in Abuja, where the leaders reiterated their commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government to tackle persistent security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the governors emphasized the need for enhanced coordination among security agencies and greater community involvement to restore peace and stability. They urged citizens to continue supporting the military and other security institutions in their operations.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, noted that ongoing joint efforts among northern states were beginning to yield positive results. He stressed the importance of sustaining collaboration to consolidate gains made so far.
On economic reforms, the governors resolved to explore new strategies to improve internally generated revenue. This includes engaging consultants to identify untapped revenue sources and reduce dependence on federal allocations, with the goal of strengthening fiscal sustainability across the region.

In addition, the governors expressed support for federal initiatives aimed at boosting energy capacity, including projects expected to enhance electricity supply and drive economic growth.
