President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), replacing Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who recently stepped down to pursue his 2027 governorship ambition in Adamawa State.

The President also renewed the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term. Both decisions take immediate effect.

Professor Aliyu, prior to his new role, served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He is regarded as an accomplished academic and administrator with significant experience spanning research, education, and institutional leadership.

The appointment, according to the Presidency, reflects Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening strategic institutions within the petroleum sector and enhancing capacity development in Nigeria’s energy industry. The President charged Aliyu to reposition the PTDF to deliver greater impact in human capital development, innovation, and support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.

Meanwhile, the renewal of Engineer Abdulaziz’s tenure follows what officials described as a thorough evaluation of his performance at the helm of the nation’s transmission network. Under his leadership, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing system modernisation.

With over three decades of experience in the power sector, Abdulaziz has also played a key role in advancing regional electricity cooperation through his involvement in the West African Power Pool.

President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and a strong commitment to national service, in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
