A Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in a corruption case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The trial judge,Rilwanu Aikawa, admitted El-Rufai to bail in the sum of N200 million with two sureties in like sum but ordered that he remain in ICPC custody until all conditions are fulfilled.
The court ruled that one surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 15, while the other must be a recognised traditional ruler. Both are required to deposit their international passports with the court.
El-Rufai was also barred from making public comments on the case and directed to attend all court proceedings.
The ruling followed earlier arguments from both prosecution and defence, with the case forming part of broader legal proceedings involving allegations of abuse of office and fraud against the former governor.
